Training

BCA offers
several different courses designed to provide the basic
information of television production. Below you will find a listing for
our current listing
of our courses and when available we post the the dates and times.
Be Sure to check back often as we will be adding additional
training classes and dates as soon as they become available.
Only Brockton Residents are eligible for training.
The Steps of Training and
Production

Attend
Orientation: Orientation is a is a FREE
class that is open to the public and it is a requirement of
all producers to attend regardless if your program is
produced through BCA or
external to our facility. This course is the "ins &
outs" - the basic policy and procedures of
BCA , it's where you learn
what BCA and cable
access are all about.

Training and
Certification: To utilize
BCA
equipment for your production you need
to take our training courses and pass our certification test
or "test out" of training through arrangement with
BCA
. To "test out" of training you
must
contact
BCA
for special arrangements. Currently
BCA
has a $20 per training course fee for
materials.

TV Program
Application: You must fill out a
Television
Program Application and submit your form to the
BCA
General Manager for review. All
applications are reviewed by the General Manager for
inclusion into our programming and no exceptions can be
made. Once your application is submitted you may make reservations
with
BCA
for production.

Production:
At this point you may make reservations for studio, editing, and portable
equipment needs for your production. Once your
Television
Program Application is approved you may speak to a
BCA Production Coordinator
to arrange for your production.

ORIENTATION
The general overview of BCA's Policies & Procedures, the
do's and don'ts, cans and cant's. In addition, this
FREE one-session class takes approximately one hour to
introduce you to community access television, BCA, our
facilities and our staff |

|
STUDIO
PRODUCTION
Is
designed to instruct the volunteer on all aspects necessary to
work within either of BCA's two studios. This four-session
class introduces terminology, crew positions, equipment safety,
equipment use, and how it all comes together for your
production.

CONTROL
ROOM
Educates the
volunteer on all aspects of the behind the scenes (from the
Control Room) of a production. This
four-session class
includes such aspects as graphics via Compix GenCG, audio,
switcher, and directing.

EDITING
This four-session class instructs volunteers in the process of
assembling a production not done "live to tape" into a
television program. It is required that volunteers first
receive "Control Room" certification.
Currently BCA offers only linear editing.

PORTABLE
EQUIPMENT
This class provides instruction for "field productions", single
camera productions, and the use and safety of the equipment.
This four-session class
introduces
aspects from creative aesthetics to conventional guidelines and
is a perfect introduction for smaller productions.

classes may be added upon need, community interest, or BCA
discretion.

classes may have prerequisites based upon a trainees existing
skill sets or certification
