A Community's Recognition

Segment Content / Focus Description

Keep Brockton Beautiful Day

2007

Sometimes, most times creating positive change in a community starts with a simple idea from a few people who champion the cause to inspire others.  In the City of Champions one of these causes is the annual tradition of Keep Brockton Beautiful Day – an effort inspired by politicians, the DPW, and the every day Brocktonian.  Through leadership of the City Council, the support of the Mayor's Office and the efforts of the DPW and nearly a thousand Brocktonians the annual "Keep Brockton Beautiful Day" is alive and well

MY TURN

Student Recognition Ceremony

There are dozens of non-profit organizations in Brockton whose efforts contribute to our city being the City of Champions.  Often on One North Main we try to promote these non-profit efforts and their missions and on this episode we turn our attention to the MY TURN organization whose mission is to improve the quality of the youth in our community through a variety of educational and support activities.  This episode we present a highlight of a recent MY TURN event recognizing some of these accomplishments.

A Look Into Brockton's Promise Part 6: "Healthy Start"

In 2006 Brockton was named “One of the Best 100 Communities for Youth in the Nation” and this was largely in part to the efforts of the non-profit group Brockton’s Promise Every Child a Champion, a Champion for Every Child – that’s the mission of Brockton’s Promise a non-profit organization that brings together for-profit, not-for-profit, community groups, and individuals to help bring "Five Promises" to every child.  On this episode of 1NM we present you part two where we focus on the “Healthy Start Team”.

Governor Duval Patrick

Speaks in Brockton

Recently the Metro South Chamber of Commerce, whose mission it is to support the growth and stability of businesses throughout the area, invited Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick to be the keynote speaker at one of their luncheons.  The Governor spoke about business advocacy to the local business leaders in attendance and we present you now with some of the thoughts of Governor Deval Patrick from his recent visit to Brockton.
