Segment Content / Focus Description
Special Education Skating 2007

The Brockton Public School’s Special Education students participate in a program exemplifying the school system’s diverse enrichment programs for our youth.  At the Asiaf rink over 150 students learn the basics of ice skating in this six week program that has to be run in two sessions to accommodate all the students.  We had a chance to talk with one of the organizers Tom Kenney on why this program is so special.

A Look Into Brockton's Promise Part 2:  "Marketable Skills"

In 2006 Brockton was named “One of the Best 100 Communities for Youth in the Nation” and this was largely in part to the efforts of the non-profit group Brockton’s Promise Every Child a Champion, a Champion for Every Child – that’s the mission of Brockton’s Promise a non-profit organization that brings together for-profit, not-for-profit, community groups, and individuals to help bring "Five Promises" to every child.  On this episode of 1NM we present you part two where we focus on the “Marketable Skills team”.

An interview with

Stanley Bauman:  A Photographer's Perspective of the Strand Theatre Fire

Photographer, Historian, Brocktonian. Earlier this year Stanley Bauman passed away, but his legacy lives on through the thousands of photographs he produced.  A few years ago we sat down with Mr. Bauman for a photographer’s perspective of the Strand Theatre Fire and he shared not only his visual works, but his personal memories of the day.

Strand Theatre Fire

Memorial Ceremony 2007

Our final segment this episode is in tribute to the thirteen fire fighters who provided the ultimate service and sacrifice responding to the Strand Theatre fire in March 10, 1941. Every year since the Brockton Fire Department, the City of Brockton, and citizens have paused to pay tribute to these firefighters.  We present only a portion of the event now, you will be able to see the entire ceremony on BCA Government Access Channel 12 in the coming weeks.
