The Brockton Public Schools
Parents' Academy
|
The
Brockton Public School System continues to
receive positive national attention for their
diverse successful during and after school
programs. Up until now the majority of these
programs were targeted at the students, but now
there is the “Parents’
Academy” – and after school program for
parents. The goal of the Academy is to help
parents understand the curriculum their children
are involved in and to provide the parents
educational tools that go beyond the classroom.

Towerfest 2006 |
Over a hundred years ago a wealthy Brocktonian
with the passion and spirit of philanthropy took
efforts to provide green space - public parks,
scenic landscapes, and so on – across the entire
city of Brockton. The man was DW Field and
perhaps his best known and longest lasting
contribution is the beautiful DW Field Park
where acres upon acres in the northern part of our
city remain as undeveloped property.
Recently the DW Field Park Association held
its annual Towerfest and we here at BCA dropped in
to take in the sites of the day.
