The 2006 Summer Video Camp Recognition Ceremony
|
This
summer a dozen junior high school students, nine
high school students, and the combined efforts of
the Mayor’s Office,
MY TURN, and
Brockton
Community Access all came together for the first
ever Summer Video Camp held at Brockton Community
Access. Just recently we at BCA opened our doors
to all those involved, their parents, and
representatives from all the participating
organizes for a recognition ceremony. Since
it was here at One North Main, 1NM took the chance to talk some of the organizers on there
thoughts about the 2006 Summer Video Camp.

The Importance of the Community Access Industry |
In case you didn’t know
Brockton Community
Access is not the only
non-profit access center in the area. We a
part of a rich, diverse conglomeration of
independent center's all striving to provide
TV/video production training and programming to
our specific communities. Every now and then there is legislation that
threatens to limit, abolish, or starve out the
existence of our industry. So our friends at
QATV
put together a PSA about the importance of
Community Access and how you can find out more.

The Brockton Public School System's "Parents'
Academy" |
The Brockton Public School System has been the
recipient of many awards and accolades and regardless if they are limited to one school or
the entire system, our schools continue to
receive positive national attention for our
diverse, successful during and after school
programs.
This fall
The Brockton Public School System
proudly presents he “Parents’
Academy”. The goal of the Academy is to help
parents understand the curriculum their children
are involved in AND to provide the parents
educational tools that go beyond the classroom.
So here now BCA provides a sneak peak at the
program.

How to Register to Vote

Although the
City of
Brockton elections were held last year that
doesn’t mean you have “time off” because there are
still other elections and votes that need your
attention. Every American over the age of
eighteen has the right to vote, but to do that you
must register to vote AND then you need to know
where to go to vote. So here on One North Main we
replay our segment where are very own Peter
Czymbor registers to vote and shows you just
how easy it is.

Brockton High School
Marching Band
Premiere Performance of 2006
|
We present the
award winning and nationally recognized Brockton
High School Marching Band directed by Vincent Macrina from their 2006 Debut appearance at
Marcinao Stadium.
This year
for 2006 Vincent Macrina along
with Carol Thomas will receive
The Brockton
Historical Society “Historic Citizen
Award”. Past recipients have included Armond
Colombo and Mayor Jack Yunits.
