Community Flag Raising
at City Hall
|
March 17th
is celebrated as St. Patrick’s Day – a day where
it is said everyone is Irish for a day – And on
this day in Brockton, Mayor Harrington and
others gathered at
City Hall to dedicate a new Irish flag to the
city. But what at first look may appear as only a
celebration for one culture, is actually the
continuation and refocusing of the city’s efforts
to embrace all its cultures into one greater
community.

Coaches Classic
Charity Basketball Game
|
The
names Armond Colombo and Peter Colombo
conjures images of multiple MIAA Super
Bowls, mud and grass stained jerseys, and Marciano
Stadium. Well, finally the two coaches
battle it out but it’s on the basketball
court as benefit night with the first ever Coaches
Classic Charity Basketball Game.

"Irish Night" at
the Brockton Public Library
|
The Brockton Public Library has been through
major renovations in the last decade, directors
have come and go, and the book selection changes;
however, the Library’s tradition of presenting
family friendly, culturally diverse community
events has never waned. Sometimes its poetry
night, a few months ago there was the play “Murder
in the Library”, and just recently there was music
in the library – Celtic Music that is, when the
Library played host to “Irish Night” .

65th Annual
Strand Theatre Fire Memorial
|
There are certain
things we all take for granted as citizens of this
great city. For example, when we dial 911 we know
that Brockton’s emergency services will be there
for us – continuing the fine tradition set forth
by their predecessors. Well at a time before we
could dial 911 for help, dozens of Brockton’s
firefighters responded when an alarm went out
because the Strand Theatre was burning. These
firefighters fearlessly responded to their duty –
and thirteen of them would provide the ultimate
service and sacrifice.
We present the 65th
Annual Strand Theatre Fire Memorial.
