MY TURN

22nd Annual

Recognition Ceremony

The MY TURN organization was started in in 1984 Paul Protentis, a Brockton High School alumnus and successful businessman.  What started by serving 100 students only in Brockton has grown to serving more than 2,000 youths in fourteen communities throughout Massachusetts & southern New Hampshire.  And 1NM was on hand at their 22nd Annual Recognition Ceremony and spoke with BHS Principal Dr. Susan Szachowicz, MY TURN Advisor Nathania Onyengaro, Mayor James Harrington, and several students about the importance of the program.

Black History Month

Stamp Series 2006

One of the oldest and largest institutions in America is the United States Post Office with hundreds of offices throughout our country.  What you may not know is that each location does it’s best to involve its self in their local community and perhaps none are better at it than the main branch office here on Commercial Street.  Recently Acting Postmaster Charles Williams commissioned a new display honoring the Black History Month series and here on 1NM we explore Black History Month by partnering with the USPS.

Spring in Brockton

Brockton is a city of about 100,000 people, has hundreds of non-profit & community groups, and on any given day there’s something going on in the City of Champions; however, sometimes it’s hard to find out what and when it’s all happening.  So here on One North Main we present “Four Things to do in Brockton in the Spring.”  2nd Annual Brockton Garden Club Show, 2nd Annual Brockton Beautiful Day, The Mayor's Youth Summit and The Taste of Metro South

9th Annual African Festival and Marketplace

Music, Food, Storytelling and Crafts…these are just a sample of the 9th annual African Festival and Marketplace that was held here in Brockton  at the War Memorial Building.  And once again BCA and One North Main were on hand to record some of the events of the day and talked with founder and event organizer Jackie Jones, Brockton NAACP President Ossie Jordan, and several others.
