Softball Fundraiser

Last year was it was a hit and this year it was a home run!  The Second Annul Mayor's Celebrity Softball game brought out members of the Brockton Rox for a home run derby as well as students, principals, school administrators, and government officials in a fundraiser for Brockton Public Schools programs.

 

Summer Reads for

Young Adults from the

Brockton Public Library

The library hours have changed a little for the summer, but the service to the community is still exceptional.  We visit with the Brockton Public Library's Laurie Cavanaugh who suggests some summer reading material for young adults and informs us on how a visit to the library is more than just looking at books.

 

Summer Solstice Celebration

On a sunny June twenty-first hundreds of people turned out to welcome in the summer and participate for the eight time in the Brockton Summer Solstice Celebration.  For the third year in a row the celebration was held at the Keith Field behind the Arnonne School on Belmont Street where activities included faced painting, bike riding, dancing, ice cream giveaways, and of course a visit from Brockton's Favorite marsupial, the Brockton Rox's KO.

 

Plouffe School Annual

Flag Day Celebration

Every year the students from the Plouffe School march to City Hall Plaza and celebrate Flag Day.  The festive day is filled with remembrance, music, and each year the two winning students of the the school's writing contest read their essays.  1NM brings you the the student's speeches in their entirety and a few patriotic thoughts from Mayor John T. Yunits, Jr.
